Know Thyself.

These words are said to have
been cut into the entrance of
the oracle chamber at Mount
Parnassus for all to read before
they entered and asked the
Pythia for answers. They are
words of warning and words of
encouragement.

You are not just your body
moving in space. You are a
complex accumulation of your
thoughts and feelings, your
personal history, the deeds you
have done, the things you
desire, and what you believe in.
All of this is translated
instantaneously into your walk,
your gestures, and your laugh.
The way you move becomes
recognizable to others.  You are
saying something when you
move your body.

Do you know what it is you
are saying?
 Is it something as
simple as `I am in a hurry', or `I
feel good'?  You may not have
an answer right now.  What is
remarkable is our journey to
understand what it is we say or
what we want to say.

“Know thyself.”  It was good
advice in ancient Greece, and
it's still good advice today.

We have faith in a dance that
brings self-knowledge closer.
With movements that ignite the
core muscles where our vital
organs rest – our heart and our
guts - belly dance brings what
we feel, and who we are, right to
the surface.

Try out the movements of belly
dance and walk what you want
to say, gesture what you hope
for, and laugh what you believe
in!
