What is the RIGHT kind of Bellydance class for YOU?

Once you discover or settle on the genre of bellydance  you want to study, the
next step is to match yourself with a teacher and curriculum that suits your skill
level and aspirations.

LEVEL ONE

Are you primarily seeking a social outing?  Is your primary motivation that of
finding something fun and healthy to goof on with friends?
Are you completely new to the dance, and merely curious -- wanting to  remain
non-committal until you know more about the art and the teacher you're
considering?

A short-term Bellydance Basics class designed with drop-ins in mind may meet
your needs exactly
. Satisfy your curiosity and have a blast!  Bellydance Basics is a
whirlwind overview of the diverse world of bellydance. Ideal for mother/daughter
and "girls night out" adventures. Fun, somewhat fast-paced, this class is designed
for those who just want to try something
different.

LEVEL TWO

You want to get as good as you can get, but you're not interested in performing.
Which class do you belong in?

A BellaBelly technique class appropriate to your skill level is the answer. Sabylla can
help assess where you're at.

Students demonstrating sufficient core technique may attend choreography
classes by permission of the instructor -- with no requirement to perform.

LEVEL THREE

You want to try your hand at performing -- but don't want to invest in costuming or
be "required" to attend exhaustive rehearsals.

Once a year in the late fall Sabylla will host a student recital in which students
wanting to demonstrate skills learned can do so.  Such recitals are open to family
and friends.  Specific costumes will not be required, although STANDARDS for
costuming will be discussed and enforced.
(This is to ensure the appropriate
degree of decorum and taste is observed.
)

LEVEL FOUR

You want to perform in a recital -- and look good doing it.
The Tennessee Conservatory of Fine Arts hosts a Spring student recital each year.
Participating in the recital will require a modest commitment of time and financial
resources. Bellydance students enrolled in choreography classes at TCFA will learn
a routine which will be suitable for performance.  Students will be consulted on
costuming with every effort made to keep wardrobe expenses reasonable. If
necessary, additional rehearsal time outside of class time will be agreed upon by
the teacher/class. DECORUM/costuming standards will be strictly enforced. Dress
Rehearsal for the TCFA recital is MANDATORY.

LEVEL FIVE

Student Troupe Membership

You are interested in performing at haflas, workshop shows, and community &
charity events.

If you desire to perform as a member of the BellaBelly Student Troupe you must
demonstrate a particular skill level, meet certain requirements and
freely/knowledgably accept the responsibilities inherent in troupe membership.

Students who maintain regular attendance in MEDII/III technique classes, who
demonstrate focus, discipline and are able to commit the time and financial
resources associated with rehearsals, performances and troop costuming may be
invited to join the BellaBelly Student Troop.

To be considered, one should be dancing a MINIMUM of one class a week -- but
preferably more.  (Dancing with other qualified instructors in addition to a
BellaBelly class does count.) Taking workshops is strongly encouraged, as is
maintaining a fitness regimen that might include cardio, yoga, or weights.
Practice time out side of the studio is an ABSOLUTE must and students will be
asked about their practice habits/routine.

Joining the troop means not only a commitment to the instructor
-- by FAR the
greater and most important commitment is to oneself and the other troop
members.

The instructor/director seeks a mutually respectful relationship --where the time,
talents and contributions of ALL members are welcomed and appreciated.
